Detected ontology contains genes expressed in specific anatomical structures at specific developmental stages (Theiler stages) in mouse. The information is primarily obtained by curators from the literature. The anatomy for each developmental stage is represented by a directed acyclic graph that gives a hierarchy of anatomical terms and their relationships.

The human MGI Expression: Detected ontology is derived by mapping expression information from all genes in the mouse ontologies to their human orthologs. In general, it is unclear if the expression pattern of the orthologous human gene has diverged.

Statistics

MGI Expression: Detected

The human ontology contains 6,700 expression entries, 7,330 genes, and 190,463 associations.

The mouse ontology contains 6,701 expression entries, 7,730 genes, and 194,545 associations.

Download

All data for this ontology was downloaded on March 23, 2009.

Note

We previously also included an MGI Expression: Not Detected ontology which indicated genes that were not detected as being expressed in particular anatomical structures at a given timepoint. However, after identifying multiple cases where a gene was annotated both as being expressed and as being not expressed in a particular tissue at a particular timepoint we have decided to remove this ontology from GREAT and suggest that its results not be used.
